The Special Boat Service Association (SBSA) is a registered charity (No. 1105052) that is funded entirely by voluntary subscription and donations. The aims of the SBSA are similar to that of the better known charity 'Help for Heroes' and are outlined in the following points:

• Maintaining contact between serving and former members of the Service and providing for social gatherings for them.

• Fostering esprit de corps, comradeship and the welfare of the Service and perpetuating its deeds.

• Preserving the traditions of the Service including the practice of humility, modesty and the avoidance of boasting.

• Perpetuating the memory of those members of the Service who have died in the service of their country.

• To assist injured members and bereaved families in any way necessary.
